Hey guys! Once again, I'm sorry for my long absence - there's just been so much going on lately. I started school, had an exchange student, went on a few mini trips here and there and just really haven't had the time to blog!  But that's actually not the only reason why I haven't been blogging which is why I'm writing this post. During my time off, I began to realize that blogging just wasn't as much fun as it was before. So, I dug deeper. In my search to figure out why I wasn't enjoying it before, I came up with this: this is not the blog I intended for it to be. It has transformed into what could be called a "typical" beauty/fashion/lifestyle blog where I only post things that are 1.) popular or 2.) something that is being done by every other blogger of this genre. And that's the problem. I don't want this blog to be like every other blog out there, I want it to be unique to me. So it's time that things change. That's why I've decided that from now on, everything I post on here is going to be something that I want to post - not just something that I saw on another blog and thought that I should do it and put my twist on it just to please everyone else. Whether it be a post about my day, an outift, recent inspiration, or what might even be considered a "typical" post every once in a while, I'm going to post it because I want to. I've also decided that I'm going to start putting more time into my blogging. That doesn't mean I'm going to sit down every other hour and write a blog post, but I'm definitely not going to be gone for months at a time. I just want to give you guys the best blog possible. So, welcome to the new and improved That Chick Named Sarah - I hope you'll stay and join me on this journey.

(NOTE: I've been thinking about changing the name of the blog to something just as catchy but a bit shorter - any ideas and/or objections?)

Hello my lovely little pumpkin doughnuts! As if autumn isn't enough to lift your spirits (well, if you're me anyways), one of my favourite nights of the year is right around the corner. That's right, I'm talking about HALLOWEEN!!! *insert cute little ghost emoji* And then to top it all off, I just found out that I have a 5 day weekend for Halloween - not actually for Halloween itself, it's like teacher work days or something - and let me just say that this is going to be one hell of a Halloween. I can't tell you why I love Halloween so much, maybe it's the candy or maybe it's the havoc, but I'm just drawn to it. If you're like me you believe that one is simply never too old to go trick or treating. And you also spend weeks searching for and planning the perfect costume. This year the way I came about the idea for my costume was both brilliant and unspectacular all at once. Since I just downed 2 cups of hazelnut coffee and am feeling realllll good right now, I'm going to tell you guys the story of how I decided what to be before I get on with the rest of the post.

*flashback to a few weeks ago* So to set the scene for you guys, me and few of my friends were at the mall eating chinese food, wreaking havoc, the usual. So naturally we went into PacSun because it's one of the few stores in our mall that doesn't suck. Naturally I put on a black fedora from the Kendall & Kylie collection because, let's be honest, I'm obsessed with hats rn. When I went to ask my friend what they thought, one of my friends named Hayden said, and I quote, "You look like one of the girls from American Horror Story Coven! I love it!" And that's when it hit me. *end of flash back*

So long story short, I found out what I was going to be for Halloween but I didn't buy the hat because I didn't have money. And for those of you who might not have picked up what I was putting down and are still wondering what my costume is, I have two words for you: Zoe Benson. And for those of you who have never watched AHS, Zoe Benson is the character played by Taissa Farmiga in Coven. And the best thing - I basically wear black like 24/7 so I already have 99% of the clothes I need! So here is my prosepective Halloween aesthetic:
Along with planning my own costume, I love to help other people plan theirs too. So naturally, I made a few polyvore sets to help those of you still struggling with their costume. So here you are my lovelies - I hope these are enough to get you creative juices flowing!

Enjoy! And chop chop! Halloween is right around the corner!

Ever since Coachella happened back in April, I haven't been able to scroll through my Tumblr dashboard without seeing at least one picture from a festival or a festival  inspired picture. Festivals are usually looked at as a place to go full bohemian. Maxi skirts, crop tops, flower crowns, the whole enchilada. That got me thinking about people who don't particularly favour the whole bohemian style. With everyone posting outifts and other posts about bohemian festival style, I figured I'd switch it up and show you all a new festival style: festival grunge. Going grungey at a festival is a way to mix it up and stand out while still fitting in at a festival. So here we go with some examples of what I call festival grunge.

Way number one you could go grunge at a festival is with a boho/vintage skirt, a printed tank, a cute bag, and jellies. Add a fedora, some round sunnies, and your VIP pass and you have one of my favourite grunge looks that is totally festival worthy. Oh, and don't forget the flannel!

Here's a little math equation for you:
A cool kimono with some super distressed denim shorts, a printed crop tee, and sneakers + a floppy hat, round sunglasses, and some cool jewelry = a look that's a little less grungey than the last one but is super adorbs and still falls under the range of festival grunge. Now that's math I can do.

Another one of my favourite looks is just a simple tank dress with a flannel tied around the waist with some sandals. Add a head chain for a touch of that cool bohemian vibe annd voila! Probably one of the most effortless, comfortable, and stylish outfits you will ever wear to a festival.

Last but not least a look that can pass for an everyday look but can also work for a day at a small festival aswell. I probably wouldn't rock this outfit at a major or well known festival but for something low key - it's perfect. The highwaisted distressed shorts and the crop tee with the cool design on it paired with the sandals, bandana, and bucket bag are, again, another simple and effortless look that is still festival acceptable but does not fall under bohemian style.

Now I know you guy are probably asking: Aside from these sets, what are some other ways you would do festival grunge in real life? Funny you should ask because last night I actually went to a concert at one of the huge local festivals my town has and rocked this trend. So here you have it! A real life example of festival grunge from yours truly! Now you may have seen this on my OOTD on Tumblr but here it is again! This my friends is how I did festival grunge for the concert. Looking at it, this outfit looks pretty similar to one of the sets from above but like I said, it's one of my favourite looks! I wore a t-shirt dress and hat from H&M, a flannel from DEB, and Topshop boots. I would just like to say that I love wearing flannel around my waist because 1.) it takes me back to my childhood in the 90's and 2.) when it got chilly I took it off and used it as a source of warmth. Double win! So I hope you guys try out this style even if you aren't going to a festival. And if you do try out something similar to one of the outfits above or if you put together your own look then be sure to hit me up with some pictures or just your thoughts on the trend! For more similar or other style outifts, you can always check out my Polyvore and I do take requests on my main Tumblr. All my social network accounts are linked on the sidebar to the right and are also linked on my Tumblr FAQ page so hit me up sometime! You message me about anything in the world and I will do my best to give you an acceptable answer, and even if you just want to talk - I'm all ears! Talk to you guys later!

Hola a todas en mi blog! Cómo están?

Alright, alright I know you guys are probably just like "Yo, Sarah! What's up with the Spanish? Did you like hit your head or something?" Well to answer your question, no, I am completely fine. The reason for all the Spainsh  is because I'm going to Spain for a month and I leave on Friday! *insert overly excited emoji here* I am literally so excited! And that's why I figured that it would be the perfect time for an airport/travel related post. (That and the fact that I'll be spending approximately 4 days in an airport round trip.)
So the first thing that I'm going to
cover is what items are must to carrying in your bag while traveling. So here are my airport essentials:

1. Magazines to keep you occupied on those long layovers and in the sky.

2. Sunglasses because you might have a window seat and it could possibly be sunny. Plus you can also use them to hide the bags under your eyes if you couldn't sleep on your overnight flight.

3. Mini make up kit incase you are meeting someone and need to look presentable but don't want to wear make up on the actual flight.

4. A comb to tame the mane.

5. A watch to keep track of time in case you have a layover or want to see how long until you land.

6. Wallet and money because we all know you're going to have to buy something whether it's something necessary like food or something not so neccesary like a souvenir.

7. Gum so you aren't stuffing your face constaantly and to get rid of morning breath on those overnighters, and water because we're all thirsty bitches. Just kidding but you seriously have to stay hydrated or else you're going to feel terrible and tired which sucks.

8. Your phone because it never leaves your hand anyways and makes great entertainment (ie. Tumblr) and headphones to drown out the crying baby on the flight (there always is one) or the guy sitting next to you that snores like a beast.

9. A notebook because if you're like me you'll get the urge to doodle. I usually put my headphones in and write poetry, short stories, song lyrics, anything really.

10. And lastly, a fabulous but spacious bag to carry it all in!

Now for the fun (and fashionable) part; the outfit. My saying when it comes to long distance travel is
'the comfier the better'. I mean that's half the fun of travel right? Getting to take the day off and dress kind of crappy? Yes and no. I am a big believer in not sacrificing comfortability for style and vice versa. You can dress comfortable without looking like you just crawled out from under a bridge.

One of my favourite go to outfits (traveling or not) consists of leggings, a tank top, a super long/oversized/fluffy cardigan, sneakers, and a messy top knot. It is seriously one of the most comfortable outfits you could put together but still looks cute as hell. Add a cute backpack to carry all of your things and you'll be all set!

Another favourite of mine is leggings, an oversized tee, and sneakers. This outfit is super easy to dress up to incase you have to be somewhere as soon as you step out of the airport. It also has a sort of grunge vibe to it so the chances of someone annoying asking to switch seats with you is unlikely. ;)

For those late fall and early spring flights a slouchy long sleeve shirt and ripped jeans paired with slip ons and topped with a beanie is a nice choice. A cute bralette adds to the comfort while a bucket bag adds to the edge.

A cropped muscle tee, ripped jeans, sandals and a beanie is a super cool outfit for anytime but it's especially great for travel. Add a leather jacket and this can also double as a fall/winter outfit as well.

And lastly, a plain v-neck, ripped skinny jeans, and sneakers paired with a scarf and cute hat is simple but stylish. Oh, and don't forget the bralette! (Tbh this look reminds me of Harry Styles and I kind of love it.)

Well, that brings an end to our journey into airport fashion. So what are your airport essentials and go to aiport outfits? Let me know in a comment below! And if you have any questions about my trip or just about what Spain is like in general you can message me on Tumblr as well as leaving a comment!
